How Bleumers came to be
Laurie Bulman, Originator/Owner
Laurie Bulman was inspired to create a bloomer type short seven years ago when she made the move to south Florida. There, in a small hidden-away thrift store, she found and fell in love with a bubble-like linen short. With elastic along the thighs and a draw string around the hips, this was the perfect short. She wore them so much she was finally told by her local cleaners, "Sorry, they cannot be saved." It was a sad day.
Here was the dilemma: she could not find a similar short anywhere she looked. Time went by. She brainstormed and became obsessed with how the bloomer was created in the 1800s; and about the woman, Amelia Bloomer, who was associated with the bubble-like pants. The feminist movement, dress reform - freedom to wear something other than a long heavy skirt when riding a bicycle.
Today, Laurie and her team are continuing her passion with the bleumer into new styles including pants. Versatile, fun, playful, and hip!
Most important, the Bleumer is the perfect item to pack for a weekend adventure. Comfortable to wear on the long drive, to bed, morning walks with her dogs, yoga class, dinner out with friends, a walk on the beach, or a bike ride.
Just change the shoes and the Bleumer fits into any time and place.
Unique, functional and hip!
